I became fully in tuned to my artistic drive when I was 19 years old. I am almost embarrassed to say it was by accident, but none-the-less, it was by accident. I enrolled in a class: Intro to Graphic Design at North Carolina Central Univeristy, while I was a biology major, and realized two things: I was really good at graphic design and I really enjoyed it. From them on my work was driven by what I felt. When I am making compositions I first think of who or what it is for. Classes such as color theory propelled me to think of the colors I would use would symbolize or how it would shape my work. I then think of how it will portray me as an African American women, most times it happens and other times it doesn't.
